Ann Curry
Ann Curry was born in the US and works as an American photographer and journalist. Since more than 45 years, she has concentrated her work on reporting the suffering of people, particularly in natural disasters and wars. Curry has been a reporter in war zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Her father was an U.S. Navy sailor. In the aftermath of World War II, her parents began to meet during her father's service in Japan. They were frequently in and out of the country due to the service of her dad in the military. Curry was a high school graduate at Ashland Oregon. She graduated with a journalism diploma from the University of Oregon in 1978. She was exposed to a variety of cultures and experiences in her early years likely contributed to the empathy that she has for global issues. Curry's family was often moving, so Curry was not able to stay at a single school more than two year. Curry attended various schools which included San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia and Virginia. Then, she graduated from Ashland High School. She began a career that could lead to a successful job by becoming a broadcasting intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford. She was the first female news anchor at this station, at age 22. Then she was promoted to the post of anchor and reporter for KGW an NBC affiliate located in Portland, Oregan. After four years, she relocating back to Los Angeles as a reporter for KCBS-TV. She received 2 Emmy Awards during the six years that she worked for this station.
